Nick Phoenix of Two Steps From Hell - portrait holding a black hat

"This course rocks."

- Nick Phoenix
Two Steps From Hell · on Trailer Music Trailblazers 1

You don't have a talent problem. You have a finishing problem.

You've started trailer tracks before. Maybe a lot of them. A great 8 bars here, a promising idea there. And then it stalls. The arrangement gets messy, the mix turns to mud, you drown in sample libraries and plugins, and the track quietly joins the graveyard of unfinished projects on your drive.

It's not that you're not good enough. It's that nobody ever showed you a simple, repeatable path from blank project to finished master, and corrected your work along the way.

That's exactly what we're going to do together.

Here's how this is different.

Most courses hand you videos and wish you luck. You're on your own the moment something goes wrong.

This is the opposite. For 9 weeks, I'm in it with you. Every week you complete one small, doable step and send it to me. Every week I record a personal video reviewing your actual track, not a generic example, and tell you precisely what to do next. You are never stuck, never guessing, never alone with a problem you can't solve.

By the end, you don't have notes about trailer music. You have a finished trailer track.

What we build, week by week.

We start at zero and finish with a mastered track, roughly two and a half minutes long. One focused step per week, so it never gets overwhelming.

  1. 01

    Melody and chords

Just piano. No libraries, no gear, no distractions. We find the heart of the track first.

  2. 02

    The full sketch

We map the entire track, start to finish, in rough form, so you always see the whole picture.

  3. 03

    A simple template

A small, focused setup (strings, brass, a few essentials) so you can actually work instead of scrolling through thousands of patches.

  4. 04

    The big moment

We build the loudest, most powerful section first, so the whole track has a clear target to climb toward and you never run out of room.

  5. 05

    The main theme

Working backward, we build the heart of the track that leads into it.

  6. 06

    The intro

We complete the track front to back.

  7. 07

    Signature sound design

The distinctive touches that make it sound finished and unmistakably yours.

  8. 08

    The mix

We make every element sit clearly and hit hard.

  9. 09

    The master

We polish it to a release-ready finish. Done.

Why this approach actually gets you to the finish line.

Piano first

We lock in great music before we ever touch a sample library, so you're never hiding a weak idea behind big sounds.

Sketch the whole thing first

You always know where you're going before you start perfecting any one piece.

Build backward from the biggest moment

Set your ceiling first, and everything else falls into place underneath it. This one idea alone will change how you write.

A deliberately small template

Fewer choices, more finishing. Overwhelm is the enemy, and we design it out from day one.

What you walk away with

Is this for you?

This is for you if

  • You've struggled to finish trailer tracks and want to break that pattern.
  • You learn best by doing, with real feedback, not by watching alone.
  • You can commit to one focused step per week for 9 weeks.

This is not for you if

  • You want a library of videos to binge and never apply.
  • You're looking for advanced, niche techniques rather than a complete start-to-finish process.
  • You can't set aside time each week to do the work and submit it.

How this is different from Rise

Rise is my ongoing membership: year-round community, track reviews across every style, and continuous career development. It never ends, and it covers everything.

This is one focused sprint with a clear finish line. Nine weeks, one complete track, built alongside me, with individual correction at every stage. Different goal, different commitment. If you want to finally finish a track with me looking over your shoulder, this is the one.

What composers say about working with me

This is the first cohort, so these testimonials are from students of my self-paced course, Trailer Music Trailblazers 1, the foundation TMT Interactive is built on. The teaching style, the production approach, and the standard you'll be held to are the same.

What Jeff Rona has to say

Jeff Rona video testimonial - click to play

"I've known Alex a long time, and he is truly one of the best trailer writers in the business. I can't believe how well he's put this course together to lay out EXACTLY how great trailers are conceived, written, and produced. This course is a no-brainer for anyone interested in scoring trailers and promos."

- Jeff Rona, Award-winning composer (film, TV, games) · on Trailer Music Trailblazers 1

"The course was a game-changer for me. The insights helped me improve my trailer tracks significantly. As a result, my music has been featured in major campaigns for World of Warcraft, Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, BMW, and many more."

Arjan Terpstra · Music Composer · on TMT1

"Alex's method is concise and to the point, with each video providing a ton of valuable information. I came very close to landing the theatrical trailer to Toy Story 4 and How to Train Your Dragon. I know my future tracks will now be where they need to be to land the deal."

Gavin Potter · Music Composer · on TMT1

"Alex has put together the best program of its kind that I know of. I've done loads of courses, you've found the best ones. You're in the right place."

Dave Graham · Music Composer

My promise to you

This founding cohort runs as a small, committed group. If we don't run it, you get a full and immediate refund, no questions asked. And if you show up, do the weekly work, and submit it, you will finish this with a complete trailer track. That's the whole point.

Alex Pfeffer - composer behind Two Steps From Hell, Crysis 2, and trailers for Pacific Rim and Harry Potter

About me

Alex Pfeffer

I've spent 20+ years writing trailer music and game scores - contributing to trailers for Pacific Rim and Harry Potter, 60+ TV shows, and games like Crysis 2 and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. I've worked with Two Steps From Hell and collaborated with Mick Gordon. TMT Interactive is the cohort I wish I'd had when I was finishing my first tracks: someone watching the work, week after week, until it's done.

Questions

What software do I need?

[Which DAW, or "any DAW is fine," plus any minimum library requirement.]

I'm a beginner. Will I keep up?

Yes. We start from a single piano melody and build one small step at a time. The whole design is built so beginners finish.

What if I fall behind one week?

You take this at your own pace. The weekly rhythm is the design, not a punishment. If life gets in the way and you submit a week later, that's fine. You still get a personal video review on every track you send me. No penalties, no judgment. The lessons stay available so you can pick up wherever you left off. [Confirm access terms after the cohort ends.]

How exactly does the feedback work?

You upload your track each week. I review it and record a personal video walking through your specific track and your next steps. [Confirm delivery method and turnaround.]

Can I pay with PayPal?

Yes. You can enroll with either Stripe or PayPal above.
